ENGO’S COMMITMENT TO AGROFORESTRY AS A POWERFUL TOOL AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

As a dedicated environmental NGO (ENGO), we place great importance on agroforestry as a vital strategy for adapting to and mitigating climate change. Based on recent scientific findings, agroforestry offers a multifaceted approach to address the impacts of climate change by:

  1. Strengthening agricultural landscape resilience and reducing risks by integrating trees with crops or livestock, thereby creating a more diverse and stable system.
  2. Facilitating species migration to more favorable habitats by establishing interconnected agroforestry systems that create habitat corridors.
  3. Sequestering carbon by increasing above- and below-ground biomass, and storing carbon in soils.
  4. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by minimizing the use of synthetic inputs and optimizing nutrient cycling in the ecosystem.

Recognizing agroforestry’s immense potential, ENGO is committed to promoting and supporting agroforestry initiatives globally. Our aim is to foster sustainable agricultural practices that not only enhance food production but also contribute to a healthier planet and a more resilient future for all.
